Goodmorning Derek ☀️
We could use some help for the Nostr days, suggestions for speakers, have a booth for you guys and we have a Nostr Beach festival on day 3, expecting 1500+ people on @SurinameDecentralized organized by @DragonBitcoin@gabrielsantos
Support Bitcoin and Nostr adoption in Suriname 🇸🇷
Visit and help orange and purple pill locals! Experience the beautiful Amazon rainforest, the Decentralize Suriname Conference on November 7-8th and the Nostr Beach Festival on November 9th!

This is exactly why big tech will never get the chance to frontrun open source tech development in Suriname.
Capitalism failed, antitrust regulation could never keep up with innovation, institutions failed to protect consumers and the free market.
Disruptive tech needs room to thrive, Suriname will be that place 🇸🇷

Definitely, I would also encourage media outlets to convert, since they’re being censored by the current government, the majority of the population lives on Facebook, companies pay for ads monthly, that flows to the US, instead of flowing back to local companies.
One of my first acts as President will be to promote the use of Nostr to replace Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp usage in Suriname. Or an outright ban of those apps
Also allocating a % of the sovereign wealth fund towards an open source innovation fund to attract developers and position the country as a global leader in / supporter of the development of an open and free internet.
An open source campaign, can it be done? Has it ever been done? How do we minimize the government’s role, make a President redundant in a decade or less and give power back to the people.
A country completely on a Bitcoin standard. 🇸🇷

Yes, though I’ve said no to requests over the past 6 years from multiple political parties, being an activist, fighting against corruption, I couldn’t say no as our country is reaching an inflection point these next elections. With offshore oil royalties being the target for old corrupt politicians, it’s time for change, with broad support from the private sector and 40% of voters under 35, we actually have a shot at winning and building a better future.
With a population of only ~600K and a GDP of $2.8B, no financial infrastructure or developed capital market. Our country is ideally suited for Bitcoin and Nostr adoption.
Thanks Derek! Appreciate the support 🙏🏽
