#Watching GHOSTBUSTERS FROZEN KINGDOM
Takes a full hour for anything to actually happen. Densely plotted but with so much backstory and plodding exposition act the expense of actual busting ghosts.
At its best Frozen Empire is (barely) a step up from 1989's Ghostbusters II: The One With The Baby, and it's only the game cast that keeps things watchable while you wait (and wait) for things to happen.
Paul Rudd (happy to be away from that limp Ant-Man 3) and Carrie Coon are each given one note to play. You could have cut all of Finn Wolfhard's scenes and it wouldn't have mattered to the story. Not a knock against him, but there are so many returning characters most of them are shoehorned in with no real purpose.
Only McKenna Grace is given an actual arc and she does it serviceably. Kumail Nanjiani (happy to be away from that limp Eternals) gets the most laughs in a movie oddly bereft of them.
Balances the screentime of the new characters and old Ghostbusters well enough so it doesn't always feel like fan service. You just wish it was in service to a better story.
If you can make it past the frozen first hour, then you'll get what you paid for.

Clint Eastwood's afterlife #drama straddles the line between poignant meditation on life and death to mawkish Hallmark drama with afterschool special easy to digest lessons.
Solid acting all around with every performer doing four sad face in accordance with the proceedings.
If you like seeing CGI people die en masse, see this before and after.

Strangely inert crime...art---thriller that just sits in your consciousness like so many swirls of paint (an art term or something).
Shot like a episode of network TV with wonderful actors going through motion while you wait for 89 minutes for a 91 minute movie to get going...
Uma Thurman acting like she's playing Poison Ivy again.
Sam Jackson showing up and livening these motherfucking proceedings.
Every scene looks and feels the same. You know how you're supposed to feel when the plot develops, you just don't care.
The only thing killed is your positive vibe.
Just watch Pulp Fiction again. It's an hour longer yet feels 2 hours shorter.

#Watching DEAD OF NIGHT
Quaint #horror anthology that still entertains despite feeling and looking dated as i'ts from 1945.
I don't know any of these stories qualify as "scary", unless the old Twilight Zone really terrified you, but none of them are duds and a good portion of them are unintentionally funny.
The Mirror tale remains the scariest during a time when misogynic attitudes where A-ok and smoking while pregnant was totally cool and had no lingering side effects.
And there were no black people in a movie for them to die first.
Still engaging. But won't keep you up at night.

John Frankenheimer's entertainingly ludicrous environmental # horror has decent creature design, white guy afros, scientific exposition and...
If you don't mind an message hammered into you while you're trying to watch people get killed, you get your money and times' worth.
There are decent kills along with some funny ones (the kid!) but nothing revolutionary.
A message monster movie that is more entertaining that preachy, it's foretold you'll have bone crunching good time.
Some of those creatures look a lot like Taco Bell food.

The #movie has no idea what to do with its titular character as Valak is shoehorned into the same repetitive scare just to wake the audience up from really dark and droning dialogue scenes.
If you want actual frights that don’t feel like an afterthought, this Nun has next to none.

Starts off well enough, but then devolves into crime movie clichés and empty violence.
What begins as an excellent piece of pulp fiction gets lost without much of a story. You like Costner and Russell in their respective roles, but scenes go by without much happening...then there's a killing just to wake you up.
The sideburns are sharper than most of the #movie.
But if you like Elvis song covers and the long awaited onscreen duo of Ice-T and David Arquette you don't have to drive 3000 miles.
