Sitting down to make art & getting overwhelmed with the possibilities. I almost wish I was REALLY good at one specific type of art versus decent at a bunch of them. I know I could seriously level up if I genuinely dedicated myself to ONE particular style & medium, but I'd get so freaking BORED.

It's a weird thing to realize I can never be truly honest w my family because:
a) they view my (apt) observations about them as personal attacks
b) they speak of acceptance & claim unconditional love but have made it clear that I do not fit into their version of a Christian, straight, "normal" person
c) they can't grasp that my examination of them is never about judgment per se [due to THEIR default judging] but about navigating & being honest. They just don't like what I see.

The @95a8f920 account keeps getting "unfollowed" by me even though I DON'T unfollow it. It's happened a half dozen times now and I'm pretty tired of constantly having to check to make sure it will still bring up the @ when I type it in.
Considering I'm one of the few here who consistently posts to it, I'm hoping they fix whatever the issue is because otherwise I'm going to stop posting there. (And it's only that account, to my knowledge. I haven't had that glitch with anyone else I follow.) 😠
Holy shit, this movie. I don't often get genuinely unnerved by a film, but if I had been alone when I watched this, I 100% would have slept with a light on and still imagined a goddamn ***** around every corner. This is a supremely creepy, fun haunted house story & the best Hell House LLC since the first one. Loved it! Perfect movie to complete my #Spooktember #October #Halloween #movie watches.

@ab58b52c What did you think it would be vs what is it actually (with no spoilers, pls, if it's good). It's at Redbox here but I know absolutely nothing about it and was wondering if I should check it out.
The Boogeyman was good. Not great, but not terrible. It's only peripherally related to the King story, but they did a decent job fleshing out a new story based on continuing the premise of the original & it had some really artful cinematography.
It was a little frustrating (I must've yelled "WHERE THE HELL IS THE DAD?" & "TURN ON A DAMN LIGHT!" at least 5x each) but everyone gives it their all & the final unveiling of the monster was pretty cool.
Those "friends" of hers were bitches, though.

@f4acc7ba What'd you think of Loki? I kind of thought it was a hot, convoluted mess, but I'm hoping Benson & Morehead have a plan and it will get better with every episode.

Roused from sleep by an ominous jingle, I sat up in bed and looked to my left where, bathed in the dim light of our nightlight, was the silhouette of my black cat, sitting patiently in the middle of my bedroom doorway, STARING at me with her glowing reflective eyes.
It was the funniest thing, and probably the ONLY thing that could have woken me up at this hour and NOT put me in an immediate bad mood.

@44d466f2 I'm fortunate in that I have 2 close (male) friends that I've known for 10+ yrs that are also voracious readers. They also like to discuss books so it IS very nice, but I would LOVE to have a *female* book-loving friend sometimes, ya know?

They believed that the emergency test would trigger some 5G update that was supposed to activate the nano particles/machines/whatever they believe was in the Covid vaccine & turn everyone who got the vaccine into zombies. Or get the Marburg virus.
I saw various screenshots of ppl panicking & Reddit threads about landlords shutting off power. What was sincere, trolling, or bad actors...Who knows.

@f4acc7ba I would have been shocked if they were anything but. That's an impossible property to make in a way that would please everyone and the scrutiny is going to be intense. It will still make money, and someone will probably try again at some point.

When I hear via Stephen Graham Jones that two of his books are going out of print (for a bit) I snatch them up. 'Cos there are some now OOP that are SUPER hard to find and quite expensive (unless you're persistent & also lucky enough to find them on Thriftbooks then grab them, like I did)

@e4159494@0a27c0cd I've only read NEAR THE BONE and honestly, I wasn't that impressed by it. It was *fine* and entertaining/competently written, but nothing special. A lot of people really like it though so ymmv. I am curious about her other books but tbh, I have so many others & my response to BONE was so lukewarm that I'm not prioritizing them.
