I was hoping this part of adoption wouldn’t happen for another 10 years tbh but permission-less money is just that.
Hoping more regular people get some nice UTXO’s before sats become an order of magnitude more costly to control.
Old coins are sweet. I have a nice little collection I’ve scraped together from traveling and from my grandparents and even some old silver coinage I’ve scrounged from coinstar reject trays over the years.
Over-thinking and over-feeling is detrimental noise. I see both of these pitfalls screw people up often.
Instincts are the clean signal. Honing the ability to trust instincts will take one so much farther than over-thinking or over-feeling, which typically lead to worse outcomes.
The book Blink makes a great case for human instincts as a compass and is well worth a read.
I think an urge would be considered over-thinking or over-feeling. Instincts are a snap assessment that more often than not turns out to be correct or directionally correct. Read Blink.
Arousal is a physiological reaction. An urge in my opinion is your brain planning / rationalizing further action(s) based on thoughts or desires. “They had an urge to do x or y.”
If we want to have a real philosophical conversation we should define the words we’re using out the gate so we’re not talking past each other.
Blink is a book about the power of the instinctual “brain” which makes the case for it being incredibly clever and powerful and able figure things out in one second that your thinking brain will likely never figure out or in many cases lead you further from the best decision.
No but that is interesting. No it’s about instincts vs thinking. Easy, fun read. And useful.
Human instincts have kept the species alive through some very hard and dangerous times. Learning to trust instincts is effectively a powerful biohack. When you get a gut feel, trust it, because that signal is coming from your most effective processor.
Yes, exactly. I thought you were referring to all of the erroneous information that doesn’t make it through filters. But yeah our survival brain is privy to all kinds of info that our conscious mind isn’t. It just computes all of it and gives us the conclusion most apt for survival. Pure signal.
People override that signal at their own peril.
The people I know who try to always carry firearms are insecure pussies that can’t defend themselves or their families. Half of them would lose in a life threatening situation even with a gun. If the world wasn’t so easy now they would’ve never made it to adulthood.
There are places where you can’t take your gun. In those places you’re a victim.
“I don’t really ever take flights” sounds like a lame ass life to me. You sound like a scared person. Take flights and get it fights. It’ll make a man of you my boy.
Maybe you don’t realize that a firearm is not an instant safety net. There are many instances where just the display of a firearm instantly escalates a non-shooting situation into a shooting situation - which greatly endangers everyone involved (including and especially your family as they’re now near the target of the other shooter and their bullets).
Another reality that firearms present is they can be taken from the user. Dorks with no experience can and do get their guns taken.
In both of these situations a gun has made the situation exponentially more dangerous. Often escalating a situation from something that could’ve been avoided with situational awareness into something deadly.
Force multipliers work both ways. You’re not some badass and your gun has just as much change of getting you or your family killed as it does of “protecting” them. Ignorance to think otherwise.
Well I’m glad you had it and I’m glad you didn’t die. That’s fucked up.
If you read these replies back I’ve never said I’m anti-gun. I own two firearms, I know how to use them, and grew up using guns. My dad is an ex marine and so was raised with proper firearm training. I don’t concealed carry and I’ve never personally been in a situation where it would’ve helped me. I’m not saying those situations don’t exist though.
But the situation where a gun can turn a non-deadly situation into a deadly one for both parties is a reality too. There are tradeoffs, always.
Were they trying to rob you? That’s a crazy ass story.
I got jumped and stabbed once but they waited until my back was turned to attack. I was able to fight them off and they got spooked and ran away. In that scenario I was lucky I didn’t go down as things would’ve gotten a lot worse. I’ve thought about it and for sure I couldn’t have accessed a gun while the two dudes were assaulting me. And getting a hypothetical gun taken from me in the melee would’ve made things a lot worse.
Guns can definitely save your ass. I’m not denying that. But I think most people have never really needed a firearm and probably won’t. And in some cases the firearm can make things worse. But in your situation it sounds like it saved you.
Was giving up the keys ever an option? I’ve thought about this in life and I think the best option is to just give a robber with a weapon whatever they want and move on.
Even if you’re concealed packing if someone pulls out a gun and demands your stuff the safest and smartest thing to do is just give them the goods. Easily replaceable. Not remotely worth getting shot imo
Snake River Farms prime cut Waygu NY strip is the best meat I’ve ever had hands down. Flavors I didn’t even know were possible in that steak. Well worth the 50,000 sats per pound ticket. Can’t wait to blown everyone’s mind on thanksgiving.
No I haven’t I always get my beef at the same store bc they carry the snake river farms. It’s always fresh and delicious. But I wanted to try the pricey stuff a few weeks back and it was insane. Blew my mind
Business as usual. Just can’t believe so many Bitcoiner’s got their hopes up for an administration who already had a full term and just did more of the same that go. Supporting the admin who enacted operation warp speed too 😂
“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”
Trump has been showing the world that he is a liar, scammer and grifter his entire life.
He appeals to the lower iq blue collar types because he talks shit and has a below average vocabulary 😂 I see why his grift works. But it’s hilarious that trump is the one who used this angle successfully because he is an heir to an old money New York real estate family of upper crust socialites. How he wound up passing for the guy to save the blue collar middle American is beyond me.
I have thoughts like this often as a student of history. Some people have no idea how good they have it and how truly fucked up things can get in a hurry. Got to remain profoundly grateful.
“…all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.”
One of my favorite monologues in film history. It gets me every time. Perfectly captures the mortal plight.
Bro don’t you know he’s here to save the west. Bro please. You have to vote… for trump. He is coming to save us all bro and is totally not part of the establishment machine that feeds on naive daddy-hungry punks😂😂🤡🌎🤡🌎
He actually called me on the FTX implosion dump and bought 10 million sats or so. But he called me a few days later and told me “every time it goes below 15k he will buy more” but it never did and now he has a tiny stack and I’m sure a lot of regrets 😂
I have told him so many times, your price targets mean nothing, Bitcoin is going much higher. Just DCA and chill. But he really sucks at accumulating assets. Makes up these numbers that are too low and removes himself from the game being delusional.
