If I truly thought UK democracy was a total charade, I'd probably conclude that the British Establishment believes there must always be a Tory Party to win the majority of elections and that if the actual Tory Party were to accidentally destroy itself, then the Labour Party must become the new Tory Party. A new fake progressive alternative can always be contrived if the public starts to moan https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/sep/27/labour-backs-down-from-plan-to-strip-private-schools-of-charitable-status
@653ade40 That's bad. I had no idea it was so bleak for them here in Wales. I assumed that buzzard numbers were still well supported by upland moorlands. My impression may have been distorted by the numbers of healthy birds I see locally, here in NE Wales. For example, in the last few days, I've been seeing four birds flying together
@653ade40 Ah, I only just read your OP edit about it being sick. The poor thing. Any clue what may be wrong? Is there bird flu in your area? So glad it found someone who cared enough to get it care 🙏🏼
@653ade40 If you get a more definitive ID, could you share it on this thread, please, Bee? I'd be really interested to know. I've emailed the RSPB before now, and they were helpful. And particularly as it could be a rare species, they may appreciate the observation
@653ade40 Definitely not a buzzard. I'm not any kind of expert, but mostly because I find it hard to gauge size in the picture and because they are so much more common, I'd err towards sparrowhawk. But if it really is the size of a buzzard, then it must be a goshawk
@00b07ccb The most logical response, for the sake of the planet, for the sake of its ecosystems, and for the sake of most people alive today, is to ensure that the richest CANNOT feel safe
