There is no engagement on Nostr for non bitcoin questions anyway. Overall, you can't fix how lame the local niggas are unfortunately. Some think coding will fix it, but it will just bring lame ass boring turds whose reality field is perpetually mediated by the fictional parts of the Internet
Yeah, mild improvement over a couple of months. Bitcoin actually solved a problem (buying drugs and child porn). Nostr is a solution searching for a problem. You know it's true cause you still use Twitter.
The 2 features of Nostr that get brought up are 1) censorship resistance 2) owning your content / social interactions. 1) fails cause there aren't enough users especially outside the bitcoin circlejerk. 2) doesn't matter, cause you can manually sign your posts
Mastodon made the same mistakes. It copied the format, and thus blindly inherited the same drawbacks of Twitter: recency bias, and echo chambers. Letr may fix that, but honestly I'd much prefer an audio based version of it.
Decentralized reddit is what we had before reddit. Small forums ran for small interests groups. I still use those. Bluelight is more interesting than Nostr even just reading, no posting.
It didn't kill forums. They survived. But it's a good idea to archive them. There are a couple of forums that have been down for 20 years, and I read the archives. The discussion quality is better than anything on reddit.
Search is not that big of a barrier of entry. Biggest one is prerequisite knowledge. Even if you find good info, you can't make use of it without related experience. E.g. a forum for film photography will confuse most people without knowing the techniques. So most people will stay away from the forum. The notion that half the world will be brought to that level of awareness in any advanced subject is completely ludicrous. Discord doesn't solve anything (unless you count talking to lolis as a problem)
Even if you find them, you can't engage them in a healthy context. I mean that anyone interesting is busy accumulating direct experience in physical space over spending time with shallow online connections.
That's fixed by skilled moderation. Good luck finding 20 people with enough experience in an advanced subject. If you don't have funds to motivate them to share their experience, it's likely a fool's errand.
And why should anyone like that share if it's not appreciated by the plebs?

When Letr goes live which topics will you be interested in? E.g. nutrition, finance, energy, religion/pharmacology
Do you think it solves a problem that substack and ghost have?
I don't have cool trendy autism and creative schizophrenia. I'm just a plain and boring psychopath

Emos went extinct in 2010.
I wanted to make a darkweb version of TripAdvisor with a list of cool places to take mushrooms, LSD, LSA, DMT, DOC, mescaline. But nature is better than ruins for those, and I much prefer meth to those anyway.
Apparently computer usage (screen time) is the highest in South Africa and the Philippines, not the high GDP per capita countries as I expected. Perhaps there's a bigger need to escape reality when there's social and economic issues plaguing society.
Searched for Nostr Bolivia, and one of the links was for 200 developers in Bolivia. I thought "no way" and upon clicking found out they were all remote. Half had AI listed as their skill. 😄 I feel more and more out of touch with the trends of San Francisco.
I suppose in this niche case, Discord is a better fit. I'll just need to improve my Spanish.
Why the interest? It's landlocked, and has the highest over 1M city in the world. Altitude is 3x of Denver iirc.
Just done reading Ray Peat's article on serotonin. Funny how he covered health effects of LSD.
I have been suspecting that lock and key receptor theory was bullshit for years, and Peat knew about it decades ago.
So many clever guys would recite various studies about monoamine associated enzymes/receptors like VMAT, DAT/SERT. Are those all to be disregarded?
If you own a house, those don't matter much? High tax is if you work (income). No need to work if you're a millionaire. Can masturbate all day, gov can't tax semen.
Well, that's still not applicable for younger folks. For them, very few places accept poor migrants. And they can't copy millionaires. That's why the world is so lame these days. Gotta kill boomer kikes.
Cause there's no more decent grade coal there. They claim to have 40% of Europe's wind though. It oscillates between 10 and 25 TW though, and no way to store efficiently yet.
Shutdown was cause it was cheaper to get coal shipped, or to use gas like all civilized world.
Storage chemistry exists. Either ammonia or formic acid. Japan funded ammonia for ships, but adoption is very low so far. We're probably 50 years and 2 major wars away from it catching on. I think it will scale eventually unlike batteries. EU is big on fuel cells now.
You'll enjoy his channel and podcast appearances if you're into anarchist stuff, because primitivism is the only practical form of it.
Corey says that all the cool diverse stuff (eating baboon ass is just one example) is disappearing and he wants to document it for us, poor plebs who can't drop $30k on an expedition.
On the spectrum of jobs, it's on the opposite side to an HR lady or a politician.
