I have a #yarn question.
I want to make my Mum a replacement for her old crocheted teddy bear. The original is long gone. I found the vintage pattern, but the yarn mentioned in the pattern is equivalent to a soft wool. The original bear was made from something fairly rough, almost scratchy, and I’m trying to recreate this.
The question: does anyone have any recommendations for rough, almost scratchy brown yarn in worsted or aran weight?

It already has a lining, but I’m guessing I’ll have to remove/detach it. 🤷♀️ maybe I’ll try to avoid removing it.
It fits across my bust, but it’s a bit loose under my arms. I hoping I’d be able to unpick it to where it fits and then bring it in a bit.
I also need to slim down the arms a bit…
Thanks for the dye tip!
Does anyone have a favourite icebreaker question for meetings where people don’t know each other (think training courses, inter-department work meetings etc.)?
I used to like, “what’s your name and what was the first album you bought?”, but this only works well if you’re, ahem, older (pre-streaming).
Current favourite is “which actor/ess would you want to play you in a movie about your life? And what movie would it be in the style of?”
Any other favourites?

I answered the movie one with “Keanu Reeves in the style of Siberia” (Yes, I panicked) but this was trounced by the chap next to me saying “Judy Dench in the style of Black Swan”.
FWIW the album one was Design for Life by MSP.
I’ve started watching X files from the start.
Watched the episode Squeeze last night, the one where bendy Eugene Tooms emerges every thirty years to eat livers before hibernating again.
Well, let’s just say that as Fox and Dana theorised that he wouldn’t emerge again until 2023 (😱), I felt very old. 30 f’ing years?!? Where did that go?
Oddly, the series is holding up so far, apart from the flying things looking a lot like drones 🤷♀️

I was clearing the attic today and decided it was finally time to let go of my old laptop from my Uni days.
Too old to be useful I thought “damn, I’ll have to take out the HDD, that’ll be a faff”. Well, that turned out to be just 4 screws to undo. And turns out if you wanted to replace or upgrade the RAM, that was 1 screw to undo. Battery clipped in and out (so you could replace it or take a spare!).
As much as I love my Mac, the lack of ease for at home repairing or upgrading is ridiculous.

Thank you.
Yes, the clock works - it was an ebay find. The plan is to add a clock face and have it illuminated from the “front” of the tower. Need to add another floor, stairs, ladder etc. etc.

Super - not watched it for years. That might be my viewing sorted!
Currently watching The Batman. But over three nights as it’s so long! Should finish it tomorrow. 🦇

Thank you!
It’s had a coat of Matt varnish over the top to get rid of the PVA shine from the paint, glue and flour mix for the brick paint. I’m 90% sure this’ll hold the mortar in place too. Or at least that’s the plan… 😬
