Modi, coming from a low caste but then wielding power as a demagogue is just a demonstration of how power corrupts, and the moral is that stable and functioning democracies need checks on power right to the top, like recall legislation to allow the people to “fire†wayward politicians.

I heard about it happening to a friend too. I though it interesting that the rate is higher than expected and that it may be related to the spike.
For example, my dad got the strap for speaking Ukrainian at school, despite not knowing English, my mom was warned against having relations with a Ukrainian (Scandinavian ancestry) and even I remember anti-Uke sentiment from my childhood with lots of derogatory jokes.

Canadians can only afford to live in Calgary, Vancouver and TO are far beyond our median income. Our healthcare system is the same state as yours: freefall collapse from conservative corruption and social murder purposes.

laurentian elite is a buzz term in western canada, essentially means the wealth above the rules for the commoners, but doesn’t include the depravity of a Koch or Murdoch

Who is on the independent panel assessing judicial bias? There is nobody tracking judges? Why not? Are they somehow immune to bribes, corruption and mental impairments?
