I was thinking yesterday that we in the #US could return the favor of being inspired by another nation's #revolution, thus once again inspiring others around the world to #revolt, by doing (much the same) to our #oligarchs and their minions (#politicians, #media, #military, #police, etc) as the #French did to their #monarchy.
It would probably need to be done slowly; on a more individual/group level, not institutional.
I'm just thinking: Is there any other way, really?
#Rhetorical question.
I know and understand enough to be able to identify and reasonably articulate many of the problems of the world, large and small, local and global, but I don't know and understand enough to be able to identify and reasonably articulate concrete and specific actions and solutions to those problems.
Even if I were able to identify and reasonably articulate specific actions and solutions to those problems, I don't know or understand how to implement those beyond the individual, personal level.
#Biden and the #Democrats are not the goal, but they are the only current path to the goal of a just, equitable society I believe most of us want.
Disengagement, by definition, does nothing to advance us, the #Republicans will literally drag us back to the worst of my childhood, and beyond, and the rest will only dilute all possibility of progress.
#VoteBlue is nowhere near enough, though too many want to stop there, but we must take that path as it's the last available outside of annihilation
@2a70c54d Far too many white people, including "#liberals", love supposedly "#centrist" organizations like this that let them feel as if they're doing something good by not doing anything at all.
e.g. #LincolnProject, #ForwardParty
#TheCraft, 1996, directed by #AndrewFleming and starring #FairuzaBalk, is currently part of the #HighSchoolHorror collection on #TheCriterionChannel.
It was better than I expected, mostly because of #Fairuza's performance and is a rare #movie with four #female leads, who all behave badly (to very different extent, but still).
Not great #cinema, but good fun, for me, even with the bugs.

@6b94ceb6 My average phone life is close to 4 years now. 6 phones (three brands) in 20 years, the last 2 lasted about 5 years each.
My 11 Pro Max may beat that, but it's only been 3.5 so far.
I must admit great greedy lust for that "natural" titanium though 🤤

I just watched ¡Nae Pasarán!, a documentary about an event sparked by Pinochet's coup in Chile and kept thinking of how close we are here and now to everything that happened there and then, especially since we caused and fully supported those crimes.
"It will happen here", not can't, if most of us keep sleeping.

@0e7dc019@3967703f $25 is definitely what the federal minimum wage should be, with Universal Health Care and strong rent control.
Otherwise it's still not enough for an adult (the vast majority of minimum wage workers, not teens) to live independently in any state.
Climate change is an immediate threat to the majority of the world's population.
We need a local, regional, state, national, and international "moon shot" type of concentration of effort using available resources while developing and advancing new science and technologies to counteract the damage humans have caused.
Without this type of all-out, universal cooperation, human civilization, and perhaps humanity itself, are in imminent danger of extinction.
