Welcome! You're one of the few accounts I still use nitter to follow your twitter feed.
Hope you bring your content over here too so I can ditch twitter for good!
As long as your notes reach people I wouldn't worry.
I know there are paid relays (like nostr.wine) but I couldn't find any info on the two relays you had errors on either.
It probably has more to do with the relays not allowing just anyone to post through them than your content.
Nostr relay funding/profit model is still to be determined and as the user count ramps up we'll have to see which model (paid/web of trust/etc.) best withstands spam while allowing growth.
I spent the last few days installing apps from nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzvuhs8kht6h and have now gotten rid of Obtainium, F-droid and Aurora stores!
Love this store! Clean design and just works.
There are technically still a few apps from f-droid I need but those are offline apps that I can install once via their website and never update.
Unfortunately they all are closed source and/or don't have apks on github (yet).
Highly recommend you check out this store and #zapthedevs
I picked the first one and I guess so do many others because it's selected by default. 😉
Nostrpurple.com is premium so it costs more but there aren't any premium services yet.
Time actually moves slower at the center of the galaxy due to gravitational forces which have an order of magnitude more impact than the speed difference.
Someone living at the center of the galaxy wouldn't notice of course because the effect is only observable in relativity. 🙃
Someone did the math, though with a lot of guessing as we don't know the mass of the milky way:
The center should be ~100,000 years younger over the 13.7 billion years it existed so about 0.0007% in difference.

One is version 5.4.0 from last year (and description says it's a debug version) while github says current version is 1.0.
I too can recommend nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0h3gy93 they handle that for you.
arm64-v8a is the native version for modern phones so just always pick that.
I didn't discount it because of what you wrote.
I discounted it because I regularly watched both Whitney and TFTC before. Along with the corbett report, George Gammon and a plethora of other sources and I used to share your feeling of helplessness and dread against it all.
I'm not telling you to stop sharing nor what you should or shouldn't watch (afterall if you hadn't posted, I wouldn't have responded 🙃).
I have recognised for myself that keeping up with it all is inversely correlated with personal happiness and simply does not enrich my life.
As it is all part of an overarching incentive game it will just play out. Yes the american empire is in decline, no it won't be pretty, yes some will suffer for it but overall we will be ok.
If you think that's apathy I'd like you to imagine that people went through the exact same commotions when the british empire "fell". Whilst the current news wants you to believe that the situation over there is dire since brexit, I can assure you that there are very few people over there who would trade their current life for one in mid 19th century britain.
So with my newfound time and freedom from not worrying so much I currently spend most of it on learning about anthropology and biology since that intrests me all of the sudden. Your recently shared video on electroceuticals fit right in so thanks again for that!
Not paying attention to news has therefore become a conscious strategy for me and in addition to making my life happier and less stressful also allowed me to see much larger pictures by thinking things through on my own. I do still get a general picture from twitter but I blocked all accounts that bombard me with "BREAKING" statements and try to reduce my time spent over there.
If you want to find signal I recommend watching as many interviews Jeff Booth gave as you can.
I've rewatched a lot of them and many of the snippets of wisdom didn't click for me the first few times and those interviews along with his book helped raise my level of consciousness much more than anything else I had consumed before.
He also has a great list of books on his website that is well worth anyones time to at least pick and chose from (I wish I had kept such a list but alas I don't recall which books influenced me the most but I started one now!).
Other than that it really pays to understand incentive systems, game theory and spiral dynamics as they apply to everything.
Here are some blog posts well worth reading:
https://www.jeffbooth.ca/post/finding-signal-in-a-noisy-worldhttps://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2017/02/07/what-is-spiral-dynamics-and-why-have-i-become-so-interested-in-it/
Lucky is the correct term. While I have done a lot of work to get to this state I know it's only possible because of all the influence that other people had on me and just being born & raised under the right set of circumstances.
I now want to help others achieve the same (first time I'm not just lurking and consuming content on social media) and am still struggling to put all these ideas out in a coherent form. But I recognize that raising collective consciousness will rid us of a lot of what we currently perceive as evil (just like we collectively recognize that quartering criminals is not the right form of justice anymore - in fact it never was).
In hindsight I now also recognize where people tried to help push me to improve but I completly missed those at the time as I wasn't ready so it's a very individual journey but bitcoin plays a vital part in helping many advance from the lower levels.
For those (like me) trying to wean of #twitter might I suggest nitter as an intermediate step?
While the project isn't as active anymore as it used to be there are still servers that work (xcancel.com, nitter.poast.org are the ones I use) and their occasional downtime helps you realize that twitter isn't that important and you're just a monkey addicted to a dopamine hit. 😄
Nitter gives you a readonly view of twitter that:
- is ad-free
- has chronological order of tweets
- no algorithm injected nonsense
Following multiple profiles is as easy as adding them after the url like so:
https://nitter.poast.org/stackhodler,macroscope17
and bookmarking the url.
More than a handful accounts per url might break the service more often/not work at all so I only use it for a few select accounts I deem high signal that aren't yet on nostr.
If you really need more, splitting into multiple bookmarks also works and makes it easy to group accounts by topic.
I don't think it ruined music as art. The signal ratio just got reduced for most due to the commodization.
As a consumer you now have access to an abundance of music for virtually free.
As an artist you can now reach people all over the world for free but your music has to be substantially better to stand out or it'll get lost in the long tail of other artists trying to do the same.
Nearly everything in life is also a power law distribution so having more music available means you as the consumer are more exposed to the long tail than ever before.
It used to get filtered for you by not even being on the shelves, now it's on spotify because it costs them nothing to host and might earn them a penny in royalties eventually.
So as a user you now need to actively filter a lot more to find the best stuff for you personally or just accept/drown in the mediocre recommendation of mainstream.
The current crop of streaming services will get blockbuster'ed eventually by some new tech (built on nostr?) that connects suitable listeners and artists.
Those adopting the new technology usually have an edge so I imagine we'll end up also having one of the top artists of this decade end up heavily relying on AI in an innovative way.
As for artists surviving:
Really successful artists can now make more money than at any time in history before. They're good.
Everyone else that's in the long tail: adopting a #bitcoin standard (and being net producers) will allow them to save up money over years of working (even if it's just the occational local music gigs) and make them richer compared to what aspiring artists are scrapping by nowaways due to inflation - in turn giving them more time to experiment and improve their craft.
Plus in a decade+ with new tech, artists will be able to hold private concerts for their fans (even if a small group & globally distributed) in VR which itself will earn them more than being rank 22,000 in spotify nowadays. Some of the upcoming conference tech is WILD.
So building a strong community and cutting through the noise to reach the right target audience will be as important as ever but it's a twoway street - as a consumer you must also seek it out.
Progress cannot be halted. Embrace it. 🫡
Hello! After lurking twitter for years I decided to follow the advice from nostr:nprofile1qqsg86qcm7lve6jkkr64z4mt8lfe57jsu8vpty6r2qpk37sgtnxevjcpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpp3mhxue69uhkyunz9e5k7qgkwaehxw309ahx7um5wghx7mnnv968xtn0wfnsurtqc6 and spend my time here instead. #introductions
