Something that really grinds my gears about some edges of the Tech Scene: People who rag on Windows but who use MacOS.
Every OS has warts, sharp edges, etc, but please for the love of god get your head out of the early 2000s.
I hate screaming this over and over but: You do remember that the **entire** DOJ lawsuit was not actually over monopoly, it was over a worry over shared code in Windows.
Ask anyone who works on Windows for long enough to understand its edges and you come to understand that the sharpest edges of Windows were accelerated by the choices the DoJ made.
If you’ve ever wondered why there isn't a good PDF reader on Windows until you install one? Thank the DOJ. The weird tight integration in some things isn't a fully management or engineering choice, it's the result of having to a) ship a browser according to their DOD/USGov requirements and b) The leftovers of the DOJ lawsuit.
@be31f0dc@a8485035 Several coworkers of mine discovered this isn’t new — one had a 2010 bottle that was 4%, which appears to have been the default according to the FDA for at least a few years before that.
@6bf64a06 the Logitech StreamCam isn’t bad but has a usb-c connection. Software is pretty decent and it does 1080p60.
I have a coworker that swears on an Elgato facecam, and another who picked up a cheap mirrorless camera and an hdmi capture card just for the task.
Welcome Valued Guest,
Thank you for choosing Grand Sierra Resort for your stay. We hope you enjoy your
visit with us.
We wanted to inform you about a large convention at GSR this weekend. The 2024 Biggest
Little Furry Convention is being held this weekend at GSR, and over 5,000 "Furries" are
expected to be attending.
Here's what you need to knoW...
Furry participants, also known as furry fandom, are a subculture interested in fictional
anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Each year,
the convention raises money for local charities, with this year's charity being the Safe Haven
Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a local exotic animal sanctuary in Imlay, Nevada, about two hours
north of us, where they shelter former entertainment animals and exotic pets. If you'd like more
information about their mission, or to schedule your visit, you can go to www.safehavenwildlife.
com.
