Where is the money to subsidize EVs come from? Taxes or printed? In any case; it feels like stealing from everyone to benefit the few who can afford them. nostr:note1pmsdhx5pmelkuhns6a6ttqdrqf7g2wf6e6p8el3peeuged8hxlhsyft62f
Subsidies are given to manufacturers to sell EV’s at a comparable price by central govt in 🇬🇧. Then gas/diesel purchases are taxed more, with daily toll charges to drive it through London. 2 actually, one for not being an EV, the second introduced decades ago as a congestion charge. Amount of cars didn’t reduce, but self employed passed costs to customers.
So sounds like the average Joe taxpayer is paying for all of it
I took the free money & it’s a pretty amazing vehicle

thank you for the $7,500 tax credit
Does that mean you're a welfare queen?
 It is stealing.

There's really no other way to paint it in the end.

No matter the turns we give it, it's a form of stealing. Especially taking into account that it was never democratic. In other words, if there had been a referendum asking the people "would you like to subsdize EVs with X or Y amount, raising your taxes/debt in Z, etc, etc, etc?". That would be something else. But that kind of thing only happens in Switzerland.

So yes, especially taking into account in its current form, it is very accurate to describe all of this as a form of stealing.

Bastiat in the 1800's was already describing this kind of thing as legal plunder. That's exactly what it is. Legal plunder.

Rothbard also in the 1970s used the term legal plunder to describe these kind of very large subsidized government contracts, etc.

This is very very bad and completely immoral.

At a bare minimum we need to ask the people.
