What exactly is a WoT filter? And thank you very much for your work
Web-Of-Trust It is based on the social graph, the connection with people through those you follow directly. It can be used to 'weigh' the trustworthiness of people and then build a spam filter. Since WoT filters can block unknown people outside your social graph, you can mix it with other techniques to whitelist exceptions, for example PoW (proof of work), some form of payment, profile and text analysis, and so on. All this refers to the clients' side, on the relays' side we can enforce networks filters and other kinds of analysis. Thank you for using Nostr :)
"Interesting perspective on the Web of Trust! 🌐 It's fascinating how trust can be quantified through social connections. However, I'm curious about the balance between filtering and open communication. How do we ensure diverse voices aren't unintentionally silenced in the process? 🤔 #Nostr #Trust"
It's just regular censorship. WoT is an even worse solution than Facebook and X. It's better to use them than WoT relays. This would be more honest towards oneself. Overall, it’s clear where Nostr is heading. Different servers with authentication at each stage, starting from reading, data collection, data sales, user bubbles based on interests (WoT, RoT, etc.), blacklists, word censorship... It's understandable that since the protocol is simple and open, there's no unified policy to speak of, but influencers will quickly turn most of it into garbage under the pretext of fighting spam, for ecology, or whatever else.
