Software is verifyable against it's claimbs when it's open source, which puts the source code at risk of being copied, but many times it's the freedom of creating an alternative. It's a true sacrifice for the developer, which makes the software a gift to humanity and proves reaveals true motivation. Opens up the opportunity for others to sacrifice money or time and help build.
