Regular reboots would mitigate an exploit that doesn't have persistence. It's mainly used for data protection rather than an exploit mitigation though. Our other features and hardening are more important. I do actually use a case that covers back/front cameras, but that's just because I don't want them to scratch or have my fingerprints on the lenses. Free access to the camera would definitely suggest they have other parts of your phone compromised and accessible.
