@feld @7afab20d on the other hand it can make perfect sense, maybe humanoid shape is perfect, the ultimate shape, the best one for adapting to any situation. I mean, think about - most space bodies (planets, moons, asteroids) are vaguely ball-shaped because of gravity. Cubical planets can exist as well as other shapes but more of an exception than rule
@Den Datafag Trollmann :flag: @feld @7afab20d I used to think that but now I'm not really sure, particularly about the placement of the head and neck

Also alien life need not subscribe to the concept of a head or a neck or a gut
@meeper @feld @7afab20d idk about that, i mean a "fat guy with «no neck»" is still humanoid, much like that "human evolved to survive car crashes" model. The concept of "head" really means something that controls and/or making decisions, the concept of "gut" is something that provides energy to sustain life, neck is just a structural element that's more concrete than a concept. I mean alien life might be a colony of plants sprawling around entire planet, with its "head" being a hivemind, and "gut" being collective photosynthesis, you wouldn't know it's sentient until scientists realize those plants were suspiciously concentrating around humans' water supply, poisoning it, over several human lifespans, and even then many would doubt that it is sentient and it's not just our fault for... something. Not to mention it's not as exciting as some tentacled three eyed lady innit?
@meeper @feld @Den Datafag Trollmann :flag: maybe we are actually the decendants of the aliens mixed with apes. And rather than they look like us, we look like them. 🤔
