Scientific paper argues Bitcoin mining can reduce methane emissions

The authors of the study emphasize that Bitcoin mining has a unique incentive structure that can encourage investment in methane mitigation projects. Unlike traditional enterprises, Bitcoin mining can generate sustainable revenue, making it feasible for miners to engage in long-term projects aimed at reducing methane emissions. This approach could potentially lead to a reduction of up to 8.5% in methane emissions by 2030, according to ESG analyst Daniel Batten
