I think it's trying to show relative scale, not individual people. A source and scale would have been nice though.
Right. But at the same time, there’s many many 3rd party Bluesky developers making tons of cool things. Some even based on ATProto and completely separate from Bluesky.
Maybe not as many as Nostr, which could be their point. But I don't know because there's no scale or source in this image anyway. I didn't watch the video this was taken from. I have no opinion one way or the other without the necessary data.
yeah, like... seems like the "devs" here is less "developers" and more "spec writers". having spent way too much time digging through the countless AP projects, I can safely vouch that ActivityPub has a boatload more than just 4 devs, but - if I remember correctly - the original spec was written mostly by 4 people(?) either way, this slide is wack

Why are there so many devs working on Nostr? Like what is the incentive? How are they getting paid? Genuinely curious to know how that works
Nostr is easy to build on and it's super fun. Sometimes we get paid and sometimes we just do it for fun. I've done contract nostr work, been zapped for PRs, and received splits from donations to a project. Mostly I just build stuff for fun though. @OpenSats provides grants to Nostr devs, but I've never applied. Some projects have raised funds from VCs. The party is just getting started. 🚀
