The amount of people, and even bitcoiners, who prefer ETFs or other custodian products like BitGo and Coinbase should give us a hint on why many people might not like nostr.

We probably should have more services offering custodial nsec. Or course you don't have to use them, but I'm guessing normies do want to be able to "reset their password" if needed.
Absolutely. All web clients should have a built in bunker with email and password reset IMO. nostr:nprofile1qqsx8lnrrrw9skpulctgzruxm5y7rzlaw64tcf9qpqww9pt0xvzsfmgprfmhxue69uhhq7tjv9kkjepwve5kzar2v9nzucm0d5hsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ejxzmt4wvhxjme0qyvhwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnndehhyapwwdhkx6tpdshssfnq7m and I discussed ways build this back in Prague. It's really needed for the masses.
Idk about all clients, maybe just specific services. It doesn't always have to be built into the protocol.
Sure. It doesn't need to be all clients. Only those that want average people using their services.
Definitely. Would increase adoption to make a full normal ass social media app with a back end that offers that, and a way to simply download your nsec and nostr events to port it into anything else if need be.
Custodial nostr is wrong. The custodian can post as you and sign your stuff, it just breaks fundamental proof of authorship. Downloading your nsec doesn't give you back control.
That's a good point, but perhaps more clients that do everything for you except hold your keys then.
It’s been ingrained since the Dawn of the Rockefeller | Carnegie slave system and it’s hard for mankind to think differently.

“Every American will be required to register their biological property in a national system designed to keep track of the people and that will operate under the ancient system of pledging. By such methodology, we can compel people to submit to our agenda, which will affect our security as a chargeback for our fiat paper currency. Every American will be forced to register or suffer being unable to work and earn a living. They will be our chattel, and we will hold the security interest over them forever, by operation of the law merchant under the scheme of secured transactions. Americans, by unknowingly or unwittingly delivering the bills of lading to us, will be rendered bankrupt and insolvent, secured by their pledges. They will be stripped of their rights and given a commercial value designed to make us a profit, and they will be none the wiser, for not one man in a million could ever figure our plans, and if by accident one or two should figure it out, we have in our arsenal plausible deniability. After all, this is the only logical way to fund government, by floating liens and debt to the registrants in the form of benefits and privileges. This will inevitably reap us huge profits beyond our wildest expectations and leave every American a contributor to this fraud, which we will call ‘Social Insurance.’ Without realizing it, every American will unknowingly be our servant, however begrudgingly. The people will become helpless and without any hope for their redemption, and we will employ the high office of our dummy corporation to foment this plot against America.”

This passage is often attributed to Edward Mandell House, an advisor to President Woodrow Wilson, but its authenticity is widely disputed but I believe it’s true in some form or another.
the nsec guardian would then take all the shit for what their customers do
Not everyone can do everything. What may seem easy or trivial to us isn’t to many. A lot of people don’t want to deal with tech just use it, either by choice or just aren’t the kind of person to get it (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing). Just like I hate doing plumbing, and for most things happy to pay a plumber. And for simple tasks like fixing you toilet flushing, they make a nice little kit all ready to go you can get at the hardware store.
There's an important distinction to be made between ETFs and other kinds of custody. The ETFs can be traded inside retirement account and not trigger capital gains. This gives the same feel as back when we fantasized that the government wouldn't want their cut of gains.

The nostr equivalent would be fast free service with lots of engagement. Nostr is bulletproof social media just like self-custody is true wealth sovereignty.

Btw I agree a VC funded custodial nostr is the only way to give the ux normies expect.
I mean for life savings, not 13 cents
Still pocket cash. 500 USD is not what it used to be
