Apologies to all Primal users who experienced slowness over the past few days. We identified some issues are working on fixing them. We still don’t fully understand how widespread the issues are, so if you want to help, can you please respond below with the following info: - Which Primal client(s) are you using? - Did you experience slowness in the past few days? - How is the app performing now? Thanks for your feedback!
It's been slow on my #PixelFold since a week. So I only use it for zaps and use #Amethyst for main nostr:nevent1qqspfajn7c3q7hpcqv58l542xjahw9srqd0zcqnc807cwyk390l4wugppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qgsdv8emcke7k3qqaldwv956tstu40ejg663gdsaayuuujs6pknw7jsrqsqqqqqpztym4l
All the trendings are showing half current and half 8mos ago
iOS client. Yes very slow. Even now (I’m using Damus because primal not working).
Caching service not working.
@miljan I use all (webapp, android and ios). Mostly webapp on desktop. Yes I saw slowness but now seems OK
IOS build 2.0.10 (1) Yes i did, specially around loading notifications after switching to different profile Still loading much slower than before
🫂 I’m using iOS Primal. Yes I experienced slowness. The slowness doesn’t occur all the time every day. But it has its moments. Plus, I had issues with buying sats on Sunday and Monday morning. I bought sats yesterday afternoon and just a few minutes ago.
Not sure if this is related but I had about 9 hours of no updates to feed a few days ago. Working fine now.
- android v1.0.3 - error uploading a small video - it seems ok now
Update notes & Relay are 🏴 But I hope to fix this faster 🔧 @primal has a lot of users 🫡 https://m.primal.net/KmPr.jpg
My search engine hasn’t worked in a while, it just circles when I try to search a hashtag or a person
Running Primal 1.9.3 (iOS). Did experience some slowness but it seems to be good now. Onward. 🫡
I just noticed this in the web client... https://m.primal.net/KmTq.jpg
Android mostly. The main problem was with refreshing and updating my feeds to the latest state. Notification feed, my profile feed and my home feed. None of them were very responsive when I pulled down to refresh. Other features worked fine. Zapping, posting, etc. Replying worked but similar to the previous issues, it took too long for a reply to show up for me after I sent it out.
Web client here. When I first bring it up it pegs a core at 100% for several minutes, then calms down. During that period I can use it okay but if interact with a note it often doesn't register, like the like heart not turning red, or if I reply, I'll get a "no relay acknowledged your reply" timeout. In the latter case though if I refresh the page the reply actually did go out. This isn't recent, by the way, it's been this way for me for a long time. Sometime yesterday I think there was a few minutes of Cloudflare reporting the website down.
Got this on my parent post though it went though anyway. https://m.primal.net/KmUm.png
try using my fork https://notprimal.lol

this could was an issue yesterday in fact 😂😂😂
It’s been happening every day for months. I keep bringing it up, but no one ever responds. People only respond when @jack says something.
Jack? Who's Jack?
He's a random Nostrich.
So you’re saying the solution is to DM issues to Jack and ask him to mention them 🤣
literally this, he dgaf every other client I've used, the dev seems to actually care while you're at it, implement Amber
I’ll look into Amber login after I add nostr-login. @brugeman wen Amber support in nostr-login?
Amber supports nip46, and Amber is one-click in nostr-login: https://i.nostr.build/mpwn1Tu0Z9IjjnDj.jpg
Oh wait wut. How do you get to this screen? Also, you need to update your README. It still has Amber support under the TODO list.
thank you
Maybe this is the issue 👀
My guess is ReplyGuy might also have something to do with it 😂
Yeah, that's also gotta be hell ok their indexer.
Web client maxed out a core... Linux Mint 22, Librewolf
1. iOS 1.9.3 (latest) and web 2. Yes it started within last 48-72 hours…apps regardless of client is unusable (noting loads) 3. Same unusable even after reinstalling and trying web version tonight too
Hey @miljan, I'm using GOS on a Pixel 8, didn't experience slowliness since last week at least, and the app is performing great minus a few crashes when I zap but that has always been the case since I've first installed the app months ago so I just got to a point where I just ignore it now and reopen the app when that does happen .. Hope that helps!
We’re so early here. It’s all good.
The primal cdn is also very slow. Nostr.build is faster over tor than loading images from primal over clearnet
Which Primal client(s) are you using? Android and Web Did you experience slowness in the past few days? On Android. Web seemed much faster. How is the app performing now? Android feels the same. Still slow in places like feed, notifications, messages, etc. Web runs much quicker than Android currently. Definitely a difference between the 2.
I’m on the current App Store version. Experienced a lot of slowness the last few days with my feed/notifications not refreshing (spinning circle indicator forever), replies not loading, feed not refreshing after I would post anything (post or reply). A force close each time fixed it temporarily.
And yes seems to be better this morning.
Which Primal client(s) are you using? Android and Web Did you experience slowness in the past few days? On Android. Web seemed much faster. How is the app performing now? Android felt unusable the last days. Now it's much faster again. The app is not showing all my notes. It is out of sync to the Web version.
-iOS -yes -still intermittently slow, but better. Totally froze up a couple days ago 🫡
Yes it has been slow, compared to Damus for instance, which uploads notes and engagement quite fast. Sometimes even the likes and shares are missing on Primal, when I compare with other clients.
No issues on Primal web for me over the last few days.
If you're a Primal user, take this opportunity to communicate with nostr:nprofile1qqsdv8emcke7k3qqaldwv956tstu40ejg663gdsaayuuujs6pknw7jspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmqpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2uc86mqq0 and let him know what's up? You won't have the same opportunity with Elon or Zuckerberg, to speak directly to those building your social experiences. Direct feedback is one of Nostr's superpowers. nostr:nevent1qqspfajn7c3q7hpcqv58l542xjahw9srqd0zcqnc807cwyk390l4wugpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygxkruautvltgsqwlkhxz6d9c972hueyddg5xcw7jwwwfgdqmfh0fgpsgqqqqqqstu6q7s
I regularly experience problems with the iOS app. Pull to refresh fails, have to force quit. I’m always on a VPN. On web, similar experience. Have to force refresh regularly. UI/UX is unparalleled, but reliability is very poor for me. Cheers for asking.
Tried testing with vpn off?
VPN is non-negotiable, but thanks.
Well I was just going to suggest that maybe a different vpn or location would be better, but ok
Primal is really shines on mobile, but I spent a lot of time on a desktop and Firefox and there it feels like it needs more love.
On Android still very slow takes about one minute at least to connect to the relays and one more minute to load the feed, to the point is almost impractical to use. It's imo the biggest turn down hope it gets fixed. When I open the app I can even see the relays are not connected even citrine that is on the phone itself, it takes about 30 seconds to connect. https://m.primal.net/KmpI.jpg
Primal on Android has been very slow for me leave your feedback nostr:note1znm98a3zpawrsqeg0lf25d9mwutqxq679sp8swlasufdz2ll2acsszr4wc
Hi. I’m on iOS 1.9.3. Had some issues over the last few days with notifications not showing up but all good since last night.
- iPhone SE, iOS 17.6.1 - Slow and unable to load. It will show as if the reply didn’t go through but it actually did. - notice an improvement in performance since yesterday Sep 11. But not as fast as it was about a month ago. Hope this is due to an increase in number of users
I don't have a problem with down times. I have a problem with spam
On desktop, my idle temp is usually 50C, when I have a tab with primal it's typically around 20C higher. Performance is usually fine though, just seems a bit heavy on resources. https://m.primal.net/KmwS.png
Stops loading feeds after a while of scrolling. Loads a different feed than the one I was on, forgets to enforce the mute list or other account settings. These are fairly common, not just last two days. I use primal Windows 10 brave browser.
On web, it has always been a bit slow. On Android, it has been much faster, but I don't use it much on mobile. Looking forward to 2.0!
Android. It's been unusable since I downloaded it, barely loads or refreshes.
using web client in Firefox in Windows - haven't really seen slowness so much, but the Explore > Network/Global > Latest feeds haven't been loading properly for me. Typically, I see pages and pages (unlimited?) results in chronological order on these feeds, but recently, only a handful of notes will show and the screen doesn't refresh/update to ever load anymore. Anyone else seen this behavior?
- Android, newest version - I had the issue that my own new posts and replies to it would not show for about 10h while other posts seemed to load fine a couple of days ago (independent whether I posted via phone or PC) - right now, things seem to be back to normal
iOS 17.6.1 - today it's actually almost as good as it was two weeks ago when the client started acting up. I'm relieved that my primary 💜client is working again! Thank you for your efforts!
Wish Android was working but not so much
Just give them some days to solve the issues Stu. I‘m quite positive that they are going to fix it soon.
Thanks Evelin 😀
The only issue I am experiencing is that when I click on one of my own posts on my profile, it can't be opened. Is this a known issue? Clicking any post on the home page or explore is no problem. https://m.primal.net/KnNc.png
