I have two hard drives in the desktop I'm installing start os on. During installation, I chose one to install StartOS on and then during setup I chose the other for storage. Is that ok?

 i would recommend using a sd to install the main system then using a hd to set your /home.
outside of that its awaes a good idea to separate you main system from your /home independent if you use partitions or other drives
