Talking to normies brings me to this conclusion: Humans are way more similar to LLMs than they think. Unless they have applied thought, logic and reason to everything they know about (not efficient), most of the time they are simply generating text based on information and opinions they allowed into their brain from elsewhere.
Wait until you tell a human that they aren’t the body and the operate at the level of the senses (including myself).
Most think that they won’t die even if they see others go year by year.
I just had pretty much the thought recently that so many are impressed with LLMs because NPCs are the human form of one for the exact reasons you listed. They cannot form an original thought if their lives depended on it and only regurgitate from rote memorization of concepts they have zero understanding of
also its not just normies. Some of those who think they are soooo awake are the most mind kontrolled, just from a different angle
This is probably because humans modeled LLM after human intelligence behaviors.
This reminds me of E. M. Forster’s immortal quip - “How do I know what I think until I see what I say?”
