Huge congrats to @primal on their App Store release. The integrated Lightning wallet with the ability to acquire sats through Apple Pay is 😍. It’s a huge step forward in bringing nostr and bitcoin into a more mainstream audience and I’m totally here for it. Very, very well done. https://image.nostr.build/a8c97a42970b9019091aaecf1d9a79c02ff476ee56bc1b22c055d08aa988b617.jpg
Wait what? How are they allowed to?
Probably cuz it involves giving Apple their 30% cut $5 ≈ 12,953 sats
lol what a scam. This is akin to a utility price gouging for electricity. Google and Apple have to buy the government because they know the reality is that at some point in the future, they will be regulated as public utilities
To be fair, all exchanges take a cut. Apple just takes more than normal.
Is there a premium on buying sats?
Yeah 30% to Apple, but it’s still fantastic fun for new people. I love all this going on. Just a year ago we had none of this . 🔥

Not ideal by any stretch of the imagination. 1. Its custodial 2. Apple gets 30% fee on you sat purchases 3. Now Apple knows all your sats purchases history
Apple Pay doesn’t have fees on top; 30% is for in-app purchases during the first year. So this is cheap+easy but KYC’d sats.
I take that back, it’s *not* using Apple Pay as the OP says. It’s in-app purchase which means the 30% fee is taken as you stated. 😕 https://image.nostr.build/03662c45a5bb4f9b52603b87c7a19ee5f630dfd0e5e14659b5369381fa24d744.jpg
Buy in Thai baht too expensive 199 THB (~$5.7) = 8,880 sats. @primal https://image.nostr.build/63e0f567484b93ec18e9b3a6ac8a9385f575b5385fe954993b06a857d426b072.jpg
I know there will be lots of people complaining about the use of the app store payment rails for acquiring sats - but that was undeniably the fastest and easiest experience I’ve ever had creating and funding a lightning wallet. Well done @primal !!
Yes kyc!
Thank you! 🙏
So impressed with the quality of your work and super-excited for the role that @primal is going to play navigating nostr into the mainstream. I’ve been advocating for clients to build in wallets with acquiring for a long time and yours is the best execution I’ve seen. So well done, miljan 👏 @R1F /create a hip hop inspired celebration song that honors invention and beautiful design
Thanks to Preston for referring me to Primal
wait I can only see this on my end, halo! @primal iOS 17.1.1 btw. https://i.nostrimg.com/de9581d127f4cd05777a0c419c3954ce05c4c167f4c6898ba6e5fb13289d7b71/file.jpeg https://i.nostrimg.com/cd5d720e58a5ad45ed6d9984f5e243e316e9ae94ddfd3ece75e0723a4511952c/file.png
No self respecting Bitcoiner that loves freedom and privacy should use or be involved with Apple products or their walled garden ecosystem.
I don’t see it in the App Store (am using it on Test Flight though)
Beware - Apple takes 30% of the payment when bought via Primal. Best to send sats in for another wallet. cc @preston
Yep but it’s fun and Apple will always be thieves.
With the way the UK keeps blocking Bitcoin adoption, I wouldn’t be surprised if I lose close to 30% on a regular buy anyway. Couple that with the hassle of jumping through hoops having to convert currencies, moving through different platforms etc, it takes up a lot of time and effort. Honestly, if it’s just for a zap wallet, this sounds like a smooth experience and I wouldn’t mind losing the 30% to just be able to top up small amounts.
Hello send a blessing bro??? Could you????
you can do the same with @current App as well..! 🤙
