Keep one set aside for all your important items that MUST use SMS 2FA. Preferably in an anonymous or pseudonymous name.

DO NOT use your every day number.

If you can, use an authenticator app instead of SMS.

Aegis is a great FOSS option.

If you get SIM swapped, you just want to miss a couple calls and nothing else.
