 @46cd5609

There are so many administrators yet healthcare has a worsening crisis ...

Correlation? Causation? Opportunism?

There is just so much money to be made ...
 @2476a08f Unsolicited graph:

interesting.
is that worldwide? or which country?
 @46cd5609 @2476a08f Time for a strike.

Once the money people show up, the enshittification begins.
 @46cd5609 While entirely in agreement about healthcare industry expenses, apparently not only is this graph mistitled (purported NUMBER of admins vs docs) but the finance guy whose link appears is a bigot, careless enough to mistitle data, AND to not notice that *salary* is not where all that growth in admin comp happened (usually it’s stock options, etc.)

 @ac0791b9 Theres like 19 other similar links comparing rise in salaries and rise in administrators but the internet is so fucking BROKEN re: search engines, its impossible to find the original source with alt text.

If you find it, ill change it to that.
 @ac0791b9 Heres the one citing BLS :

Heres another link:

 @ac0791b9 Heres AthenaHealth citing why the increase in respective years:

 @ac0791b9 Kevin Drum's analysis of "150% physician increase cant be right,because 'I know it'" is not a very compelling argument when The Match and ACGME are constantly criticized for suppressing residency sslots and training opportunities.

I'll look at the rest when im not on call, but Unless the BLS, Athena, Becker, Medscape (original source years ago) et al are ALSO all incorrect, and one Kevin Drum is right, then I'll stand corrected.
 @ac0791b9 Ok so i read his full breakdown and im on call. If he wants to dither with AthenaHealth on whst defines admin and be a splitter, not lumper, and his analysis is "1110% increase not 3000%", so be it, but thats not the type of erratum im going to correct or submit to Becker or AthenaHealth for amendment.
 @46cd5609 what country is this?
 @46cd5609 @2476a08f What the hell happened in 1993? I know that's about when Bill started floating a new healthcare plan, which didn't pass.... but I'm really struggling to come up with anything else that could have caused this inflection point.
