Even though I know I’ll likely switch to Easy mode later I always start games on Normal. It’s important games allow the switch mid play through, having this only at start can make someone give up a game if too hard later on.
@eb948c00 taht's one of the reasons I never went far in Metroid Prime, couldn't switch to easy mode
@eb948c00 I always play games on Normal because that's where all the gameplay tuning happens* - so often, switching to Easy or Hard doesn't make the game easier or harder, just less fun for different reasons 😐 * Except for the cases where it's like "remove all combat" or "option to skip gatekeeping points"
@eb948c00 I always like if you get something for sticking with a higher difficulty, despite given the option to switch at any time. It doesn't need to be game changing. May be some extra bonuses along the way. If there are easter eggs - like of the funny or weird kind that you get for sticking to higher difficulties - gimme! The game should always explicitly tell you that you are about to cross a line of no return for the current run, though. Nothing more frustrating than accidentally switching.
