Similar situation to using Linux for consumer computers.
i somewhat agree as it all depends on what the consumer is going to be doing. if you're going to be playing top tier games or doing image or video editing, then probably windows or macOS will be your choice here. however, everything else can be done with Linux. things get tricky when you want integration with your mobile devices though.
I move between phone and pc so often that it’s unfortunately a necessity at this point 🤷‍♂️ I’d like better options but like you say, that’s difficult
I hope that some day in the future we can have the same ease of use with more open and decentralized mobile systems.
As do I, I wish I could help make that world happen but I’m not smart enough for that 😂 coding is hard
I move between DeGoogled phone and Linux laptop all day,. Nextcloud and associated apps are key. I even sync my browser bookmarks across all devices and all browsers using Nextcloud Bookmarks and the Floccus app. Not even Big Tech offers thar much synchronization.
This is something I will need to look in to, I just feel like it has a high barrier of entry with regards to time to learn. Currently running windows and iOS which I’m not happy with morally but work extremely well for my use
Davinci Resolve edits differently, but some video people prefer it over Premiere, and it runs in Linux.

No. Not any more. Linux is arguably a better experience.
