I know. I’m friends w/ a couple guys from school who ended up in the industry, I’m their harshest critic. You can’t complain about the lack of quality in the industry, then graduate into it and start turning out MORE bland, retread imitations of mediocre media.

There’s fresh inspiration all around out there, you gotta get outside your own head and see life from others’. Designers really need to see real workplaces before making more non-functional shit, too, but that’s a whole other thing. It’s hilarious to think a guy who’s never seen a real mine is out there designing space mine levels for a multi bil franchise
I don't really watch big movies or buy AAA games so maybe I'm in a bubble, but in some ways we're in a creative revolution. Just look at all the indie stuff on steam, some of it is cookie cutter but a lot of it is really unique.

From what I can see the endless reboots, sequels and copies isn't so much coming from grunt creatives churning it out as executives trying to play it safe and make something blandly popular.
