What’s the big deal? Federation just means you’ll be able to follow Threads users from Mastodon and vice-versa
Progressive Mastodon instance users get really huffy at the prospect of giving a platform to instances that grate against their community standrds or just simply their fragile sensibilities. Remember they are on Mastodon, because Silicon Valley isnt aligned *enough* with their deviant worldviews.
True unless you are on mastodon instance that has an owner and the owner doesn't like the other instance... And that's most of the instances.

If they refederate with the weird degen side of mastodon I’m pretty sure meta will decide by themselves that they want no business with the fediverse.
