Natural in origin…until any refining/cracking occurs. 
 @adbb894e yes, you’re right. Gas is a naturally occurring substance. We just do unnatural things with it.

It’s natural and incredibly energy dense, but we can’t use it for combustion or any other use that creates GHGs, including exploiting new gas fields. The key is “sustainability” rather than “natural”.  Rattlesnake venom is natural…doesn’t make it good for you.

The irony is that we need fossil fuels and it’s climate and biodiversity harm to build and install renewables
