How many Nostr apps do you know?
Which one you consider the most interesting/promising?
Which one the most weird/crazy/surprising?
Lost track, new things constantly pop up.

Nostr.band is one of my most frequently used as I like to reference old notes.

I like the simplicity of nosbin. When you think nostr is a social network and see a pastebin replacement it makes you think what else is possible.

Verified Human I thought was a great idea too, can see space for that in future.

CivKit is interesting but I’ve not played with it much. Some of SuperTestnet’s stuff looks very cool too.

Most promising are the ones that use nostr as a protocol to glue other things together. Content + Lightning + Nostr - there’s a shitton of opportunity just there.

Looking forward to seeing innovation around nostr identity management!
Lol, just posted this, I'm in the same bucket

 Great list!
What do you think needs to be solved around nostr identity management?
 Spring Browser on Android ⚡
I've lost track a long time ago, they're popping everywhere

16! but i think there is way more now
 There is!
I was able to name 34 without looking at the list, still way too low from the actual number
 1. Many
2. Most interesting is DVM but I’ve yet to see how this works
3. Most promising .. hard to say but maybe zapstr, zap.stream, formstr, memestr, 0xchat, nostrchat, stemstr? Damus, Habla, any onlyfans clone (know of none), slidestr, snort if performance improves. Probably forgetting many.
 Amethyst, lume
Memestr is an app? Never heard of it, can't find it
Oh recipe one is interesting too and promising I think.

Memestr.app
Yeah cooking is fun, but should be a separate event kind, not long-note imo
 Nice!
 Pinstr.apo is promising.
 *app
Wow Pinstr indeed got so much better! I've opened pinterest a couple times lately, that's a useless algo-stream of 'content marketing' produce. Pinstr might indeed become what pinterest used to be - a place to follow and support amazing visual creators and curators!
Most promising things on my mind these days:

1. Any app that lets users buy stuff they cannot buy on Big Tech platforms.
- DVM clients, especially combined with GPUtopia etc
- Marketplaces for farmers with reputations, recommendations

Reason: Real money coming in at scale

2. Apps that integrate P2P communication with relays: Overlap of Nostr & Holepunch.
(Instant Giga-File sharing, Superior quality streaming, podcasting apps, ...)

Reason: better quality & faster

3. Any app that lets users make decent money and combines it with easy ways of spending it.
- Interactive Subscription based newsletters/blogs/courses maybe
- AirBnB for bitcoiners or some service like that, where you'd want to select for like minded customers and could actually use the existing nostr social graphs + significant sums of money circulate

None of these really exist yet though. Of the existing ones I'd say:
- Amethyst (if it does P2P)
- Highlighter (if it integrates patrons)
- Zap.stream (if it does P2P)
- Spring (if it specialises on onboarding)

 Amazing input!

Why isn't there a big platform that would serve farmers? Any inherent challenges there?

Spring will focus on onboarding when existing Nostr users start loving it. We're far from there yet
 For Farmers:
1. More and more things are illegal to sell or do as a farmer (especially when it comes to meat and dairy, pasture management, integrating agroforestry, ...). I, personally, already need a way around that.
Something like the REKO rings (facebook groups that let people order from local farms and meet at a drop off points or get deliveries) on nostr, where the farmer can selectively let people in his private selling group, could solve that.
2. There's no clear winner in that niche of marketplaces yet (facebook maybe but it sucks for that use case in terms of UI + it censors beef and dairy)
3. Regenerative farming only outcompetes subsidized farming without a middlemen taking a cut

For Spring:
Awesome! If I can help in any way with the making people love it part -> I'd be happy to.
Re. farming, this sounds like a very hard to bootstrap thing, with goods being not only physical, but also with limited lifetime, requiring high local network density. Although would be an amazing learning to try and onboard your local friends/customers into some usable simple app!

Spring had a significant UI change, your feedback on the latest version would be very valuable!
 1. Maybe I'm biased because that's the context I live in and because I mostly see my own need for this. But still, the farmers I know are often the people that feel the pain of inflation and Big Tech thievery first. Pain = incentive for change = general openness to bitcoin and nostr.
Meat, when frozen, is actually relatively easy to ship and sell online.

2. I'm getting an android phone next week and will start testing.
Do you know about fountain app ? Earn sats for podcasts.

With gputopia i feel the bitcoin breakaway civilization is starting.
 1. When Fountain becomes a nostr client and also lets, let's say, Citadel Dispatch broadcast live with P2P holepunch connections we'll be talking 😉.

2. I feel the same! Decentralised GPU's + Nostr + Bitcoin 💪
Foutain.app has some nostr integration. Zaps and such, but yes, email sign up is cringe and probably a deal breaker for me at tge moment.
 - Around a dozen? But actively using half
- Most promising is Spring.site
- Nostr as blogging platform is crazy
Nostr as blogging platform is going to explode as soon as someone comes up with a wordpress/ghost/etc plugins to seamlessly sync wp database with nostr (posts, comments, etc)
Or maybe just some #Jekyll integration? (think GH pages). Static sites can go a long way and you already have #nostr plugins for comments like zapthreads
Well for professionals yes, for normie bloggers that won't work. For them there should be a plugin that you install once, and it just quitely reposts your stuff to Nostr, and then imports comments from Nostr to your WP dashboard, and sends your replies to those comments back to Nostr. Set and forget, and maybe eventually some traffic/engagement starts coming, and then they start learning/caring more about Nostr.
If we replicate the old system bit-for-bit normies won't see any added value in the #nostr platform. For example, that's why I'm so bullish on Spring.site you just can't replicate that with any normie app.

Agree, but bootstrapping a network is hard, getting content production solved with such integrations can really help.
I see pinstr.app as the most promising one 👀

Others in other tabs
Nice! Found a couple new ones :)
I am currently only aware of Amethyst, freefrom and Iris. I think Amethyst is by far the most promising. It has the most features and does a fantastic job with the relay function.
Check out nostrapps.com or nostrapp.link, there is much more to Nostr than just social clients
Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep exploring it for more interesting features!
 Memestr 😝
About 30-40 depending on how app is defined 😅
Definitely the most intriguing is Onosendai
What I found surprisingly useful is nosli.vercel.app
Also love yabu.me relay's landing page, that has an option to read out a note.
(Super useful if you can't read (kanji) but understand a spoken language)
So many cool apps coming from Japanese devs!
Yup -- lots of tooling too. It's very fascinating 😊
