Is Maga about to start buying electric cars?

so, Musk could have massively increased his entire customer base?

Time to buy TSLA?
Trump wants to drill baby drill. He's on video saying nope to ev. He said its your choice buy one or not but the guberment wont say you have too.
 Fuck no.

I am not one of them, but I understand and empathize with their perspectives. From their point of view they gave electric cars a chance to prove themselves. All they have done is proven to be unreliable, take way too long to charge up, and they also have that annoying tendency of catching on fire to engulfed people in flames that can't be extinguished with water.

Whether it is a Ford Lightning, a Nissan Leaf, or a Tesla whatever. Most conservatives and MAGA people have the super power of common sense. They work for a living. They don't have time to be messing around with all the baggage that comes with electric vehicle ownership.

They just want to stop at the station, pay 2 bucks a gallon for gas, and not have to worry about all the electric vehicle bullshit. Work starts in 15 minutes. They just chugged a pot of black coffee in the morning and dropped the kids off at school. They don't have an hour to fuck around for a recharge, a soy latte from starbucks, and a selfie social justice warrior post on instagram.
Excellent answer 👏 21 sats and a follow ser
 Counter point.

Have had a Tesla Model Y for 2 years. The performance is truly next level. I'm a simple man, it's fun being considerably faster than most sports/performance cars in my family crossover. We charge over night every night in our garage and have used a super charger twice (for free) on a longer roadtrip. Sure gas station charging in a couple minutes would be great, but the convenience of waking up every morning with a "full tank" is extremely convenient and way more than offsets it. Imagine essentially never having to go to a gas station. And yes I live in a cold climate, it's never been a problem.

Goverment mandates on any product's adoption are ridiculous/harmful/immoral. At the same time, Tesla makes an incredible product for certain use cases. I am a major gear head and its objectively one of the best cars I've ever owned.
Congratulations!!! I am glad that it works out for you. If you are the type of person who doesn't worry about any of the facts ive mentioned kudos to you. Fast cars are fun.

I am a major gear head myself. I live and breath cars so much. That I have a 3 topic limit on discussing cars when we are all out driving somewhere in public. Because I get so excited about seeing and talking about vehicles in the wild.

Ive just seen too many verifiable videos of teslas catching on fire. Inconsistencies in quality assurance due to questionable working conditions. As well as knowing that over time the batteries will degrade. Especially in cold weather.

Plus the cost of replacing them hilariously expensive. So much so that you should just buy a new car when it happens. Which when you think of it, it's kind of next level sinister genius. Makes a lot of sense from a profitability standpoint and highly discourages self repair.

I wish that I could have my own gas pump in my garage. Probably would save money buying it in bulk. Then I wouldn't have to deal with the sketchy gas station employees and customers. Lol
Quality was definitely an issue early on, but to be expected with new company that scaled as quickly as Tesla did.

I sold a 2021 BMW 330i xDrive to get the 2024 Model Y Performance - the build quality is comparable. The technology (if that matters to you) is 100x better than BMW's.

To date I've done exactly zero maintenance. Probably getting close to needing new rears, but that's only because I can't keep my foot out of the throttle.

Don't get me wrong, for a pure driving experience, it's not the move. I have a heavily modified s2000 that I'll never sell to scratch that itch. But in terms of a family hauler, I could not be happier with the MYP.

There is a weird thing that happens when a product becomes political... It necessarily means less objective opinions and more bad takes. Don't knock it till ya try it.
My critics aren't political. Purely gear head related. Couldn't care less what people think of Elon. He doesn't design or make the cars anyway. He just gives his two cents on input and writes the checks while making the major decisions when necessary.

I feel weird about BMW. Its like they sometimes make beautiful cars. That can perform really well. However I never really enjoyed them when I went on test drives. Too heavy of a steering feel IMHO. There was always something wrong with the used ones and the dealerships around here have all rude salespeople with dildos shoved up their asses.

That Honda S2000 is a fucking gem. Gods gift to all patrol heads on the earth. Never get rid of it. They are amazing.

I need to figure out what vehicle to get next that is either a reliable AWD or 4WD SUV or wagon. Can handle mild off roading due to unpaved roads. Drives like a tank in snowy mountain conditions. Costs under 10k with under 100k miles, because I want a cheap car to save money for stacking sats now. So I can just buy a new car in 2 years from my ROI profits.

Anyone have any ideas for vehicle options meeting this criteria in the USA?

Totally agree about BMW. Left that car with extremely mixed feelings. Wouldn't buy a used one outside of a couple of their halo cars (but not worth it at this point).

The s2000 is the perfect car. My wife strongly disagrees 😆 but I don't care, it's perfect. Can't not smile when I drive it. And it's over 20 years old! Blows my mind.

When I'm going for utility, reliability, and value my first thoughts are always Honda. Maybe CR-V? That or a Rav4? For wagons (which who doesn't love a wagon?) Maybe an Outback or a XC70?
