The centralization of birth and death at the hands of the state is an unfortunate period i fear humanity will have to live through sometime near the end of or shortly after my lifetime.
 Do elaborate.
Are you referring to birth and death registration (certificates)?
I mean, how does it become any more centralized? You need both a birth and death certificate from the state to be a legitimate person in their eyes, along with the unholy alliance between medical authorities and state bureaucracy. The very idea in giving birth today no longer has any of the divinity or spirituality of the sacred act of life-creation, but only the biological materialism of production towards the state.

Giorgio Agamben has a really great analysis of this in, “The Uses of Bodies” the final book of the homo sacer series.
Frighteningly we are very close to artificial womb tech in combination with gene editing tools like crispr you can imagine a whole terrible new wave of “ethical” eugenics that will be too tempting for the malthusians currently running our state to resist.
Yeah I guess that’s an even darker turn, but I’m not sure if that can even be called birth anymore…
It has been like that for several centuries. Look up Maritime Admiralty Law and how it is applied in courts.
