 Curious about the statement for "repost instead of like" -> Are you doing this so that people get a fresh broadcast of a message you liked and people will get it in their feeds, or for another reason? 
 On our site, unlike Twitter, technically the like has no function other than to provide feedback.

For engagement, the only way to do this is to repost.

Therefore, it is suggested that you like and repost. 
 I think this is right. It's how #nostr works. So likes are nothing more than feedback saying you enjoyed something - but only to the author - you're not spreading the gospel of the post with a like. Unless likes are used in some higher layer algorithm to select posts to show to users - but I think hardly any client have anything advanced implemented in that way right now.
