I agree. And if the cats in the other control group have been eaten the usual crap, aka industrial food, the comparison is much more useless.
Cats are carnivores, and in my opinion, they would do much better with high quality meat.

And I know at least 3 cats, who would go immediately into a hunger strike, if we try to feed them vegan 🐱
