Apparently there have been news reports that the eclipse may disrupt phone service, too...
i'm not surprised... those microwave radios are not really that high power and a big blast in their spectrum is gonna wipe out reception if not cause component failure

pretty sure they have got measures in place, ie, hard switches that isolate the radio array from the transmitter amplifiers, but if they come in without warning the radios are toast
btw, there are charts you can find relating to the magnetic disturbances from solar weather and south east of USA right now had some strong disturbances in recent days... not really surprising that baltimore may have had their bridge crashed into by a big ship that happened to be in the wrong place as a strong field caused its engine to stutter and blow smoke

so it's double, when you consider the path of the eclipse AND the magnetic field weakness

they aren't saying much else in the media but this is something that is going to tick up and down but maybe a bit quiet for a week, but then again tick back up

the thing that's important to understand is that if a carrington event sized CME wipes out every single cable acrcoss a whole section of the earth, it could be even years before the power is restored

if you live near a city, that's a lotta hungry people you are gonna compete with
yeah, btw, there is some chatter now that the fuel of the ship was dodgy, but come on

it's diesel, diesel is diesel is diesel

diesel engines are very tolerant

suddenly spewing black smoke isn't from bad fuel it's from something else, like, for example, fusion causing the rupture of a cylinder, i mean meltdown from a pulse of EMF of course, which is also consistent with the blinking lights
maybe some motor heads can correct me on this but i think if you choke a diesel engine of air intake it will blow black smoke too
also, just to be clear, the giant diesel engines of large ships, i'm pretty sure they have giant heating coils that help ensure the diesel is hot enough to gasify in the combustion chamber, and if that heat level drops too much it WILL blow black smoke because that's unburned oil... like the grease smoke of a frypan up too hot
