There are some usage stats on nostr.band. My subjective impression is that it's not growing much at the moment, except for a steep increase in "silent bots" likely aimed at gaming WoT. https://stats.nostr.band/

I believe we're in the early stages, with Bitcoin enthusiasts leading the way. However, I see adoption expanding, even among those not involved in cryptocurrencies. Over time, I anticipate that most social networks will shift to a paid or freemium model, driven by increasing ads and censorship. This will prompt more people to seek alternatives like #Nostr.
