Apple Watch is total 💩
Is there a watch you like that works with GrapheneOS? I use a Garmin Instinct Solar. Lock down permissions and turn off unnecessary features and one charge lasts about 30 days.
I’m old school 😁 https://image.nostr.build/9bc5035f7beff6154be5b72212a602b61288509f4abacc0e5bdb56a1ab04caac.jpg

I bet @NVK would make better 😄
Ditch the fossil and get a real watch. Casio Maximalist.
I have this watch since 2017. Works great
Your missing the craftsmanship of cheap Japanese quartz 😂
Works with anything https://watchesyoucanafford.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/casio-f-91w-04-br.jpg

Why wouldn't your Garmin work with graphene?
It does work. I was speaking highly of it and wondering if others used different smart watches with GrapheneOS.
are they paired via app or Bloututh?
An app you install and always on Bluetooth for notifications and passing GPS data to the phone if you allow it. I originally got it because I wanted waterproof and notifications on my wrist when I wanted them. It has ended up being the best watch I have ever owned. In my opinion, the perfect balance of low / high tech.
And all of the features computable with graphene right ?
Yes, through the Garmin Connect App. The cool thing about GrapheneOS is you can deny the app whatever permissions you don't want it to have or grant permissions only when you are using the feature. The GPS in the watch is a passive receiver, but obviously the app can call the mothership if you let it use the network permission.
sounds cool. I haven’t worn a watch for about 8 years.
I love watch so I can’t resist 😅
Adjacent question, since you gents obviously like to keep your data away from the big tech conglomerates: What, if anything, are you using for health and fitness tracking with your smart watches? Anything that can back data up to a self-hosted server?
I have not explored this. Garmin can track it, but it goes to big tech cloud.
