Being permissionless and transparent is a great strength of Nostr. Not only do you know exactly what is public, but you can also use appropriate solutions according to your needs, like Tor or a VPN. Nothing is really stopping you, and that's very powerful. I must say it's a pleasure to have people like @Seth For Privacy here. We need good awareness around privacy in every cyberspace, and Seth has done a great job in this area. We can definitely learn a lot.
💯 And that's something heavily underrated about Nostr that is usually an issue with centralized social media -- it is generally Tor/VPN friendly. That could change if relay ops have issues with spam, but for now it's true at least.
VPN all day. But we mostly came here for freedom from the algorithmic manipulation of centralized social, and of course the censorship resistance. What we found and what keeps us here is a real community that we built ourselves.
