If a zap is like a "super" upvote, we also need "super" downvotes.
Mute is the ultimate super downvote
There's no real cost to a mute, so it doesnt really disincentivize bad content

Have a look at this research by Fehr and Gachter. Timestamp is set to 11m27s but that might not come through on all clients.

 Send an invoice lol
lol, but of course the user would not pay it
Zaps go into Escrow. Payout is 24hrs later, if not downvoted to hell. Good luck.
Downvoted by who? I think if downvotes are “free” I can spin up a million bots to cause some trouble or counter balance downvotes. Maybe I missed some additional context earlier in that thread.
Anyone can downvote. Zaps go to the DVM, and the DVM mirrors the downvotes.
So it has to be sybil resistant and hard to game. What I see is a market of DVMs that will record the downvote, and mirror it. You can zap more than one DVM. Honest DVMs gain a reputation over time, and the zaps go to cover the cost of mirroring.
@Vivek built an app called @zapddit where all downzaps on your post go to someone else that you choose.
It's a nice idea, but that can be gamed. I would prefer ths zap to go to a set of neutral DVMs that record and mirror the downvote.
the antizap: for when a note is so bad I get your sats.
Antizap. It's got a ring to it!
 Perhaps resuscitate the Usenet ‘flame’?
Lol I thought the super downvote is just getting ignored
