This happened to my grandpa, just between states on the east coast. Every time I've explained that to people, they respond with,  "nah, they can't do that. " Buuuut they did.

 Taking his gold to VA from FL. He already has a history of getting super pissy with cops and not knowing when to shutup for his own good. They justified search and seizure based on his unwillingness to settle down. About 20ish years ago. He eventually got some back but he swears up and down that he didn't get it all back. I've had chats with him about bitcoin but he is just too exhausted with being 🍆'd at every turn by the pigs to be optimistic about anything anymore.
