I think it’s ok to want to make a living on your stuff and understandably so posting to where there are more people to see it, but that doesn’t stop one from some proof of work to add the content to nostr as well, or even better, add it here early (say a day or so) and then release to the other platforms.
I'm as usual having trouble monetizing. Because a lot of what I am doing has a Dharmic edge to it, I am reluctant to charge for it.
What are you trying to monetize
writing : poetry (haiku, haibun, tanka) and Sutra Commentary

Well, sometimes I have some ideas about certain things but definitely not writing. Id look at the likes of substack to see if anyone is doing something similar. My guess is you have to build a mailing list of free subscribers and hope to somehow convert a tiny portion to paid supporters. Asking directly for support on creatr could take a long time. Part of that is probably because we’re so early still.

I'm mostly thinking of Nostr as a way to drive more traffic. since I started reposting on here my site has had an uptick (significantly). so, it's a win anyway.

I figure I'll stick to nostr for all of my good stuff. I might use some dumbed down stuff to try to drive people to nostr but not the other way around.
I have a job that pays well so anything made on nostr is first, Bitcoin and second, a bonus.
This is such sick thinking, I appreciate ever Sat zapped. I make content for nostr as well but after while its gets to be stupid complaining about not getting zapped enough. What are content creators? Beggar? No! We're throwing our ideas on a platform that will not ban us for our ideas. THATS ENOUGH for me.
You cannot just extract value from an economy and still expect it to strive. That makes that person a leech and a hypocrite
The SATs I received, I zap back into the economy. Nostr is cool like that. Plus,..its kinda fun. ;)
💯 plus v4v doesn't work of people on extract value from an eco-system and don't put any of it back (in whatever way). In fact, no economy can survive that way.
It’s too early to expect to make any meaningful money on nostr I think. The people that put in the extra work to add their content here are likely just doing it to help the protocol (I hope). I don’t want to sound like everyone should try to help nostr for free; but I think that’s what it comes down to eventually - doing a lot more work while expecting less in return - in large part out of the goodness of their hearts. There are just not enough people to support every creator here on a consistent basis.
Agreed but that won't change if people just use nostr to drive the content elsewhere.
I don't publish anywhere else. Only Nostr. I published a thing or two on medium.com, X, and got nothing. Nostr in my experience has been far more forgiving, friendly, and a better experience overall.
