I want a #startrek game but instead of commanding the bridge or firing a phaser I want to be working in the hydroponics bay or engineering.

#LowerDecks has a great vibe. The crew knows about the mission but they might not necessarily be on the bridge when the command comes in from the admiral. A game could be about the grunt work of being an officer, maintaining the ship, repairing the holodeck, the occaisional away mission or two, and the social dynamic of working with the rest of the crew.

Artimis (bridge simulator) had some of that social aspect. Each player has a computer with one station on it.

Weapons, nav, comms, engineering, science and the captain didn't get their own station. They just got to watch the main view screen and shout orders to the other player/stations.

I fondly recall running engineering, getting things just right, and suddenly half the ship goes red.

"What are you doing to my ship?"

Extra power to shields, sure, where am I going to dump the heat?

Seems like a good use of first-person VR game mechanics, like in I Expect You To Die or Job Simulator.

It would fit in really well with the "stand in one place and manipulate the environment around you" style of gameplay.
