 One thing I forget, attending post-2020 Apple keynote events in person, is that everyone watching at home (or watching after the fact) has no idea what garnered applause and what did not. The USB-C announcement got raucous applause from the media section.
 @ce72be9b that’s the thing I miss the most from these filmed events.
 Makes me think I should live-tweet applause / reactions here in the future.
 @ce72be9b now that you mention it I do miss hearing audience reactions like the old keynotes. But I’d never thought about it.
 @ce72be9b This gives a lot of color to your comments about the events being attended by non-tech (or at least non-Apple) specialists.

There are people who’d cheer for USB-C, and then there are people blown away by, eg, Swift. Different crowds.

I care about the reactions of the latter far more than the former.
 @ce72be9b This is useful meta-information. “Raucous applause” is one thing; “raucous applause from the media section” is potentially entirely another. Presumably there were others in the audience who were not applauding raucously?
 @ce72be9b This is why I still like to go to a local meetup to watch the events. We do our own laugh/clap/groan/gasp in real time.
 @ce72be9b
Apple often does not do what the users want, but Apple wants, and needs to be forced by law to get applause.
 @ce72be9b one thing I miss is when they would do tilts and pans of the audience, and then suddenly went certain feature got announced suddenly the camera focused on a whole lot of Apple employees. I never found it dishonest or anything. It was just a fun way to read the room.
 @ce72be9b yeah. I’m sure I’m not the only one to say it. But I miss the live presentations.
