Travel-ready USB miners setup. If it works OK, I might make a casing for it, and a simple app to control it... #mining #bitcoin https://image.nostr.build/41a83b930faff7d1f06fa0e793150d384aa86482fd2e00d7fe59f09cb96d0def.jpg
Wait wait wait...that's cool. Is it more of a novelty or is it decently efficient? I'm a noob here so I know nothing about mining rigs or building computers. I'm very curious though.
Honestly, for me it's the novelty of playing around with miners and perhaps building some peripheral software around it that someone might find useful. It's efficient in that it doesn't use much electricity and is relatively quiet. But the chances of actually mining a block solo is very small. Mining in a pool will yield next to nothing, so I'm keeping it solo.
Is that for solo mining?
Yep, currently running against ckpool, but I also want to experiment with running against a locally installed full node on the PI.
One more question, do you earn small amount of #sats even if the block is not rewarded to you? I'm interested in buying bitaxe but not sure if it's profitable or not.
Not when solo mining. It's all or nothing. To earn steady amounts, you'll need to join a pool where you get paid based your hashrate.
