North East India to be battered by heavy rains on Monday, Tuesday; IMD issues orange alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in North East India on Monday and Tuesday. Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and the sub-Himalayan parts of West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period. Assam and Meghalaya have been issued a red alert for heavy rainfall. The southwest monsoon has also arrived in Maharashtra and is expected to advance further into more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and northwest Bay of Bengal in the next 3-4 days.
