 I’ve had anywhere from 7-20, and haven’t noticed a difference between the two numbers. 10 or less seems to be the preferred and common answer.

 It depends on the data plan you have. I use 18-24 relays, but I have "unlimited" data for cheap.

 No, for Amethyst I just use the most popular ones. Personally, I have a few that are run by me and a few paid ones.

 I use only 4 across for all my clients:
 - filter.nostr.wine does the aggregation and broadcasting 
 - nostr.land, welcome.nostr.wine and nostr.wine are add ons but not strictly necessary
