I don’t go to Starbucks because I refuse to do KYC. I am honest to a fault and won’t give a fake name. If I do, I feel like I am criminalizing myself, which is exactly the intent of the system. nostr:note16pey8e2lm3x2z9m9d53y2yuzhvhschnp30gv8jdm7s25uws5w9dqmhz92y
Do you never pay with a credit/debit card anywhere? Do you never go to restaurants that ask for a name they can call when your table is ready? Seems extreme man.
I know. I prefer when they list an order number rather than shouting my name.
Sure, but is it only at Starbucks that you draw such a line, is what I’m wondering?
Just give them a fake name. You're not criminalizing yourself. No law governs the writing of a name on a coffee cup. No crime is involved. And writing your name of a coffee cup has nothing to do with KYC. It's not like yout name gets recorded in some Starbucks ledger to endure compliance with finance law. It literally just gets written on a cup so the batista knows who to announce the readiness of your drink to. You gotta chill.
I guess I will show my age on this one. I never (ever) understood the allure of Starbucks. At the time every cheap diner in America was selling coffee for 25 cents a cup with unlimited refills. How on earth the business plan to sell at $2.50 a cup from the most expensive real estate in every city got funded I will never understand.
Not sure what this says about me, but I give out fake information all the time. At least to corporations and random people I'll never meet again. it's never maliciously fake info.
Yes! How is it any of their beeswax what any of your deets are? So, it is fine to turn the tables on them, if they are invading your privacy with nunya quex, then give them a serving of the same crap with nunya answers.
I should use a nym from a random npub of mine. "Eldonte Espooliada, your coffee is ready"
just give a fake name, mahn use the system
