I’ve got the GrapheneOS already setup! Just have sit down and make the transition.
I will be transitioning as well.
My Calyx experiment might need to take center stage sooner than I thought.
Imho. New Year’s resolutions are not a shitcoin when applied to appropriate topics of encouragement.
Get with the program. 😂
 It’s a fork of graphene, right ?
Thought it was separate, but maybe not? Odell had recommended it over Graphene on a podcast a couple years ago, so that’s all I’d ever looked into. I’d opinions have changed, I’m behind the times. Works well otherwise, tho.
No. Calyx isn't a fork of Graphene.

"CalyxOS draws heavily from the LineageOS community and code."

In my experience Calyx wasn't a good fit. Have had best luck with Graphene. Its reported to be more technical than Calyx OS but I don't find it to be a problem.

The issues most experience is when they try to load no free software and or FOSS that utilizes some sort of Google dependant.

I see! I heard that Graphene is the most privacy focused one
GrapheneOS is good, but I’d warn there are pretty significant UX trade offs. I used it for about a year but eventually switched back to iPhone for that reason. The walled garden is too tempting. 😬
Easy suck in the long run.
I'd appreciate your feedback on what specific UX drawbacks you experienced. Might not agree with all the feedback based on the return to iOS but it would be appreciated non the less.
I would say the main ones were difficulty finding apps and keeping them up to date (I ended up with three different ways of doing this, and it was hard to remember which was used for each app), certain apps that I needed to use not working (banking apps), unreliable push notifications for things like Signal, lack of good degoogled navigation, and battery drain. There were also a lot of little things like how much easier is it to work with the camera / photos on iOS.

Overall it was workable and I liked GrapheneOS, but just decided the trade offs weren’t worth it.
I can understand your perspective, thankfully with things like Obtainium centralising installs from vatious sources for FOSS apps really helps.

Banking apps 99% of the time require Play Services as a minimum as do reliable push notifications as any apps from the Play Store either directly or from Aurora Store frontend will depend on FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging from Google).

FOSS apps using web sockets or another implementation they'll require being exempted from battery optimisation.

Also on the camera side Pixel Camera and Google Photos work together flawlessly for all Pixel related features alongside sandboxed Play Services but again if your preference is for iOS over Pixel methods there wouldn't be anything GrapheneOS could do.

Glad you gave it a go and grateful for you taking the time to reply. Take care.
If you haven't used either skip ahead and go for Graphene.

Plan to stay away from apps that require the use of GooglePlayServicess. Then you can ignore installing Aurora Store and or the Grapheme App for GPS.

An important lesson learned for me was, I tried to continue using apps that were Google dependant.

Now, well, if it ain't in Fdroid or I can't side load it from a .apk I don't fuck with it.
Got it ! Thanks! And also you should enable zaps 😏
Working on figuring out "how to shorten LN address". More Rabbit hole...

Muh preference is the most sovereign choice.
sovereign LN URL. I think @Derek Ross had a post about it... 🤔
I was told to think of it as security rather than privacy
 Maybe both ? 🤷‍♂️
GrapheneOS is only on a Pixel bc of security reasons. How you use the phone will impact your privacy.
I’m back to this one then https://image.nostr.build/42773714bb817e9aff9a7cd2bd6b712659ecf9c24257bbf0f5fc9746e96f5db6.jpg
rotary is a feature, not a bug https://youtu.be/1OADXNGnJok
Damn! Probably Generation Alpha don’t know how to write with pencil 🤷‍♂️
 🤣 I hate being old
GrapheneOS is both, it is a privacy and security focused OS and would encourage reading of our documentation at grapheneos.org to dispel any myths.

As far as the other mentioned OS I have a previous note you can refer to here:

Is there a good FOSS keyboard? the one I have has weirds issues when using Amethyst when deleting words and whatnot.
Ya the native keyboard is terrible with Amethyst. I’ve had good luck with FlorisBoard
 https://github.com/florisboard/florisboard
 Working like a charm. Ty
 You got it
I use Florisboard for swype functionality okay, most AOSP based keyboards unfortunately have the issue.
And....slow and steady wins the race. Just plan on using two phones for a while.

Likely you'll still need two devices. One that lives at home in Faraday bag that is for KYC type tasks and the Pixel with Graphene will be the EDC.
