It's regulation but also that Toyota can't make big margins on it. They did the same with the land cruiser and sold it as the Lexus LX only.

This would cannibalize more profitable truck sales for them that Americans would buy but other countries won't.  

 Well as Americans are buying less cars these days due to interest rates, it might change that situation.  

 It may for some, but the people buying Lexus LX series may be out of the group affected by interest rates
